CARFAX Reports

  • CARFAX is a national company that offers Vehicle History Reports (VHR’s)
  • VHR’s provide transparent vehicle, ownership, title, and value histories
  • If applying for a vehicle loan, the first report will be provided at no cost
  • Anyone (member or not) can purchase a discounted report for $19.99 (normally $44.99)
  • You can purchase them on our website, by visiting a branch, or over the phone
  • Payment methods include deducting the $19.99 from your American United account, with a debit card over the phone, or cash in branch

What is CARFAX?

CARFAX is a national company that offers a Vehicle History Report (VHR) which takes information from their comprehensive vehicle history database assembled with over 23 billion records covering virtually all cars, light trucks, and SUVs manufactured in the U.S. since 1981. They provide vehicle data from more than 112,000 data sources, including all state DMVs and many police departments, service facilities, and collision centers. They also run the data through hundreds of business rules to identify unique CARFAX Alerts and Advisories relating to odometer rollbacks, VIN cloning, and other potential problems.

Vehicle History Report

  • History-Based Value Report – includes retail and wholesale values by Zip Code
  • Summary of the Vehicle History Report – includes accidents, previous damage, number of owners, recalls, service history records, purpose of vehicle (i.e., personal vehicle), and odometer readings
  • Ownership History – includes year purchased, type of owner, estimated length of ownership, states in which the vehicle was owned, estimated miles driven per year, and last odometer reading
  • Title History – salvage, junk, rebuilt, fire, flood, hail, lemon statuses and any major title problems reported by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
  • Detailed History – chronological list of the vehicle’s history including dates, comments on the event, and the source of the information
